Introduction
A fractured neck of femur is a serious injury, especially in older people. The most common symptom of a femoral neck fracture is the pain in the groin that worsens when the patient puts weight on the hip or tries to rotate the hip.
A femoral neck fracture is usually caused when the top part of the leg bone is broken, just below the ball and socket joint. When this fracture occurs, it will tear the blood vessels and cut off the blood supply to the femoral head.
If the blood supply to the femoral head is lost, the bone tissue will die leading to the eventual collapse of the bone. Replacement of the femoral head is the standard repair for a displaced fracture where the blood supply is disrupted. If there is no displacement, then the fracture will be surgically stabilized with screws or other hardware.

Treatment
The doctor will recommend an orthopedic implant, which is a prosthetic device that is used to replace a missing joint, a bone or to support a damaged bone. It is usually manufactured using stainless steel and titanium alloys for the strength and the plastic coating will act as artificial cartilage.
S.P. Nailing Orthopedic is an orthopedic implant. It is shaped like a three-flanged, stainless steel nail and can be used to anchor the neck of the femur to its head, in orthopedic surgery. This is usually used to repair an intertrochanteric fracture. It is usually placed below the prominence of the greater trochanter and then passed through the fractured part of the femur’s head.
The doctor will employ a procedure called Internal fixation. It uses metal pins or screws to hold the bone together so that the fracture can heal. The pins or screws can be inserted into the bone, or the screws may be attached to a metal plate that runs along your femur.
